(PLEASE NOTE: there is a tear upper left on the plate. Approx. 2 inches and closed with no paper loss, this would not be noticeable once matted and framed. The title/name of this bird has been trimmed off. This was during the binding process in the 1800's, it was not recently trimmed.)

INFORMATION
This hand-coloured engraving is from The Naturalist's Library, by Sir William Jardine was published between 1833 and 1843. Jardine was a naturalist, painter, author and founder of the Linnean Society of London.
This series in 40 volumes was divided into ornithology, ichthyology, mammalian and entomology. The entire series was engravered by the famed Scottish artist William Lizars and finished in hand-colour.
